Life Story for Little Miss Katherine Reed

Little Miss Katherine Reed
Katherine Lanae Reed made her entrance into the world almost 10 weeks early at 6:02 PM on January 21, 2011 in Tucson, AZ. Although she only weighed 2lbs and 4 oz, she didn’t need any assistance with breathing on her own. She amazed the NICU staff as they described her as a “fireball”, defeating all odds. She kept her sassy, loving, caring personality all throughout her life.

She loved Jesus and could pray such wonderful prayers. She was active in Youth Bible Study, Sunday School, and all other Youth Activities. Katherine also had an insatiable love of singing and dancing and loved to sing in the Angelic Chorale at her church, Pine Grove Missionary Baptist. When she was not singing at church, she performed solos and duets in the back seat of the car, in living rooms, kitchens, and back-yards from Atlanta to Birmingham to Huntsville to Nashville.

Katherine also loved her school, Mill Creek Elementary of Madison City Schools. Since Pre-K, she always had the ‘best’ teachers with whom she always gained favoritism. If you met Katherine once, you would never forget it, consequently, she was known by everyone at Mill Creek Elementary (Principals, Staff, etc.).

Katherine loved to read and learn her sight words. She especially, enjoyed becoming a Mill Creek Elementary Sight Word Superhero and marching in the Sight Word Parade this past December. Anytime she had an opportunity to participate with a group she was thrilled.

Katherine loved people. Her magnetic personality endeared her to so many, and she quickly became “Everybody’s Girl.”

Katherine had a special love for her family, and she knew how to make them feel special with her high energy greetings. Family was very important to Katherine, and she always looked forward, and requested, to visit her family who mostly lives in Birmingham and Nashville.

Although Katherine’s life may have seemed short on Earth her legacy will continue to live in our hearts as well as through the lives of the donor recipients of her Heart, Liver, and Kidneys.

She is proceeded in death by her Great-Grandparents Lawrence K. Reed Sr., JC Sr. and Ludie Beaver, Murray Sr. and Cornelia Morrow.

She leaves to cherish her memory: loving and devoted Parents Lawrence III and Dwanetta Reed; Brother Lawrence K. Reed IV; Grandparents Dwight and Brenda Beaver and Lawrence Jr. and Deborah Reed; Aunts and Uncles, Temeka (M. Randell) Williams, LaKisha Beaver, Yulonda (Kortney) Warren, and Gloria Reed; First cousins Landon Beaver, Imani Warren, and Tia Williams; Great-Grandmother, Bernice Reed. Host of Great Aunts, Great Uncles, Cousins, and Friends.
