Obituary for Valtine Johnson

Mrs. Valtine Roselin (Davis) Johnson was born
October 1,1951 to Mr. Joseph G. Davis Sr. and Mrs.
Sarah G. Davis of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The eldest of 8
siblings, she was a 1969 graduate of Townsend Park High
School where she began her educational journey and
graduated from the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff
(formerly known as Arkansas AM&N College) with a B.S.
degree in Elementary Education.  In 1976 while teaching
in the Arkansas School System, Valtine married Richard
Johnson Jr, a U.S. Army Officer. In March of 1977, she
gave birth to their first child Rolando D. Johnson. In
December 1978, she gave birth to a daughter Stesnie A.
Johnson and began living a life as an Army wife while
maintaining a teaching career that spanned over 30
years.  In 1986, Valtine and Richard settled in Huntsville,
AL which became her home until the time of her passing.
Valtine was preceded in death by her son Rolando D.
Johnson; parents, Mr. & Mrs. Joseph G. Davis; and
brothers Lawrence and Kenneth Davis. 
Those left to cherish her memories include husband
Richard Johnson Jr.; daughter Stesnie Johnson-Ridley
(Marlon) of Haymarket, VA; grand-daughter Na'ilah D.
Ridley, grand-son Jaelon Ridley; Daughter-in-Law Sonia
M. Johnson and grand-son Alfonso Carrington, III of
Huntsville, AL. Sisters Joetta Davis and Sarah A. Davis of
Pine Bluff, AR and Rita Ellis (Lenny) of Desoto, TX. 
Brothers Evan Davis (Darlene) of Dallas, TX and Joseph

Davis Jr, of Pine Bluff, AR and a host of aunts and
cousins.
