Obituary for Raynard Jones
Raynard Jones was born May 25, 1968, in Huntsville, Alabama. He was the third
child born to the late Elizabeth Jones and Paul Jones. As a child, he enjoyed playing
baseball, going to the Boys and Girls Club, and was named Youth of the Year in 1980.
He also enjoyed playing basketball and even enjoyed writing at an early age.
He was a product of the Huntsville City School District. He was a gifted student
involved in athletics and academics. He attended Lee High School, where he participated in football and the Debate Team. Academics were very important to Raynard.
In 1986, he graduated from Lee High School. His focus on academics led him to
receive a perfect score on his ACT, which allowed him to receive a full scholarship
to attend college. He received many acceptance letters from colleges and universities
and attended Alabama A&M University, Jacksonville State University, and Auburn
University. In 1999, he graduated from Athens State, where he earned his Bachelor’s
Degree in General Studies.
Raynard was employed with Boeing for 27 years as a Network Designer. His com- munity service included serving as a board member and a lifetime member for the
Boys and Girls Club. He coached basketball for the City League and The Boys and
Girls Club and served as a referee for the Alabama High School Athletic Association.
He regularly refereed for Madison County schools and was a dedicated volunteer for
Jemison High School. He was a scorekeeper and statistician for the Jemison High
School Basketball Team and the Tennessee Valley Prep Program. He was actively in- volved in the Parent Teacher Association for the elementary, middle, and high schools
that his children attended.
Raynard gave his life to Christ as a child. He was a faithful member of Abound- ing Love Ministries, which served under the leadership of Apostle Sylvia Moore. He
faithfully served as a parking lot attendant and greeter, where everyone was greeted
with a warm smile.
Raynard loved his family and cherished them with all of his heart. He was preceded
in death by his mother, Elizabeth Jones; aunt, Eula Ellison; uncles, Dan Thomas,
James Moore, Sammie Moore, and Walter Moore.
He leaves to forever cherish his memory: his beloved wife and biggest supporter,
Chaundra M. Jones “Biscuit”; their children, Candace Adize Jones “Candy Girl,”
Nathaniel Sampson Jones “Big-Nasty,” Malachi Domonique Jones “Chi,” Charles
Berry Briggs Jones “Soul Man,” and Emmanuel D. “Frosty”; his parents, his father,
Paul Jones “Daddy Jones,” and Bobby, and Ella Weston “Mom Weston and Grand- master”; siblings who loved him deeply, Ricky Jones, Percila Jones, Pamela Tyson,
Lita Friend, McDonald Knight, Trey, and Karrie O’Neal; nieces and nephews who
adored and loved him, Brittany Jones “Britt J.,” Jeremy Jones “Sticks,” Alexis Jones
“Salexis,” LaKey Prior “Key Jones,” MacKenzie Tyson “Mac and Cheese,” Landon
Friend “Lan,” Zurie Tyson “Zura Mae,” and Aniah O’Neal; grandfather, Cecil Davis
of Cleveland, Ohio; loving aunts and uncles, Lee Gusta Thomas, Lorine Moore, James
Ellison, Vilena Moore, Linda Smith, Edye Cartwright, Leonard (Dee Dee) Moore,
Bernard (Lonnie) Moore, Judy Davis, Cleo Collins, Earnestine Morgan, Floyd Davis,
Carl (Suga) Davis, Tony (Angie), and Earnest (Mary); and a host of cousins, friends,
and coworkers who were very dear to him.
Raynard opened his heart and home to a host of children young and old who he men- tored along his journey that will be forever changed and eternally grateful.
