Obituary for Ms. Kathy Marie Turner
...Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
Kathy Marie Turner was born February 28, 1961, in Ardmore, TN, to the late Aleain Booker Turner and J.B. Turner, Sr. As the 12th child, Kathy held a special place in the family lineage. This number is a symbol of the faith, sovereignty and divine rule of God as seen with the 12 tribes of Israel, the 12 gates to the City, the 12 disciples and the 12 baskets of fragments leftover. Kathy often received confirmation as to how special she really was in her family. After spending a very fruitful, exciting day with family and friends, Kathy made her transition with the Lord suddenly at her home Sunday morning, March 31, 2019.
At an early age Kathy gave her life to the Lord and united with her family at Turner Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, where she was nurtured and trained in Godly principles. She later moved her membership to Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Kathy was always surrounded with love and support from her immediate and extended family. Kathy acquired many of her attributes from her mother, such as cooking, nurturing of children, and staying connected with her local community. She showed her love for her family by baking and cooking—often carrying the food she prepared to the sick and shut in, bereaved, loved ones and friends dealing with tragic life events. She was very passionate about child care and exemplified her love for children while working at Chrysler Child Development Center for many years. Kathy never met a stranger and would take care of anyone’s child. For the past 16+ years, Kathy continued to share her giving spirit with those she cared for through her work with Volunteers of America. She was very unique in her own way of expressing love in abundance. Kathy loved her nieces and nephews and gave each of them a “pet” name that only she could use to show her love.
She received her public education in the Madison County School System (at Toney Junior High and Sparkman High School). Kathy continued her love of education while attending Calhoun Community College, Alabama A&M University, and Drake Technical College.
Kathy was preceded in death by her loving parents and five siblings: Louise, Laura, Aaron, James Phillips, and Billy Don.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: one daughter, Tiffany Turner, Huntsville, AL; three sons, the Reverend Dr. Christopher Jermaine (Antoinette) Turner, Huntsville, AL, Anthony Terrell Turner, Harvest, AL, and Justice Turner, Huntsville, AL; five grandchildren, Chancellor, Christian, Jacob, Xavier and Tori Turner; five brothers, J.B. (Barbara) Turner, Jr., Harvest, AL, Rev. Harold (Mattie Ann) Turner, Sr., Huntsville, AL, Boyd (Jannifer) Turner, Toney, AL, Quinton (Shirley) Turner, Harvest, AL, and Gary (Cassandra) Turner, Ardmore, TN; two sisters, Sandra (Michael) Biggs, Snellville, GA, and Bessie (David) Jordan, Huntsville, AL; adopted brother, Larry (Glenice) Harris, Harvest, AL; sister-in-law, Betty Turner, Harvest, AL; two aunts, Catherine (George) Acklin, Huntsville, AL, and Geneva Hill, Albany, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
