OBITUARY
On Sunday, October 31, 2021, Janet Clair Haas Thayer, loving sister, mother, and grandmother, passed away of Alzheimer's disease at the age of 72.
She is survived by her brother Alexander Haas Jr, her two children, Eric Thayer (Gabrijela) and Jennifer Reyes (Omar), and her seven grandchildren, Ian, Noah, Zoe, and Eli Thayer, and Azriel, Tennyson, and Vadim Reyes. Jan was preceded in death by her father, Alexander Haas Sr, her mother, Lois St. Clair Haas, her sister Karol Haas, and her dog Muffin.
Jan was born on July 8, 1949 in Columbus, Ohio to Alexander and Lois Haas. She graduated from Lee High School in 1967, attended UAH, and completed an accounting program from a business school in Huntsville. She was married in Germany in 1968 and had two children.
Jan had a passion for ministry. She worked at the Downtown Rescue Mission for 29 years. She also enjoyed sewing, jewelry making, antiques, and reading Scripture. She was known for her acceptance of everyone, dry sense of humor, infectious smile, and warm, enveloping hugs.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at 3pm at The Bridge Church at 7041 Moores Mill Rd. Huntsville, AL.
