Obituary for Mr. Dewayne "Cheesie" Moore
Mr. Dewayne Moore, affectionately known as “D-Wayne”, “Cheesie”, and simply, “Wayne” by those who knew, loved him, and shared many wonderful moments with him, departed this life and entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 30, 2019. Although our hearts ache because we will truly miss our brother, our beloved son, and our friend, we take comfort in knowing that Heaven hasn’t seen wings like these!!! We understand that the pull Wayne had on God’s heart was bigger than our pull. Yet, we will always remember how he pulled and impacted our hearts, greatly stirring and moving us by his sudden flight.
To take flight is an understatement when we think of Wayne. He was both quiet and outspoken at the same time, but nothing short of loving, honest and real! Wayne was full of so much laughter, charm and good times that it was easy to love him, even when you wanted to fight. What will we do without him? We’ll continue to let his memory smile on us and be encouraged by the Scripture that says, “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” (Romans 8:18). Again, Heaven hasn’t seen wings like these!!!
Wayne was born on October 13, 1963, in Madison County, Alabama, to his parents Mr. Aaron Moore, Sr., and Mrs. Dorothy Howard. His life began in Alabama, but in Nashville, Tennessee, is where Wayne was raised along with his other siblings. A great deal of time was spent in both states, and in Ardmore, Alabama, was where Wayne made his home later in life.
A 1981 graduate of McGavock High School in Nashville, Wayne was an exceptional ball player and enjoyed having fun, while spending time with family and friends. Being around his family was something Wayne always valued. He kept us on our toes. He worked hard, and played even harder. At a young age, introduced to Christ, Wayne lived like we all desire to live: freely, and one day at a time. Yes, we’re absolutely convinced, Heaven hasn’t seen wings like our brother is now sporting!!!
Wayne is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, J.B. Suggs, his paternal grandmother, Ruby E. Moore, his brother, Aaron Moore, Jr., his stepfather, Darvin Howard, and his nephew, Darrius Moore.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories: mother, Dorothy Howard of Ardmore, Alabama; father, Aaron Moore, Sr., of Chicago, Illinois; brothers, Anthony Moore (Grace) of Toney, Alabama, and Brian Moore of Chicago, Illinois; sister, Gwendolyn Moore-Pointer (Jonathan) of Toney, Alabama; sister, Jacqueline Moore-Torres (Ramiro) of Harvest, Alabama; five nephews, four nieces, one great-nephew, and two great-nieces; and a host of cousins, other close relatives and friends.
