Mia Dessie Yvonne Nixon- Stringer was born on December 17, 1967 to the late Clayvon and Judith Artis Nixon in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. She joined her ancestors on Friday, July 8, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.
Mia graduated high school from 71st High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina in 1986. She attended Bennett College and later gave birth to her son, Eric Vaughn Stringer in 1988.
Known for her beautiful smile, positive outlook, joyous laughter, family oriented mindset, Mia enjoyed expressing her love by cooking several dishes her family and friends loved. Her macaroni and cheese is legendary among family and friends. Regardless of what happened, she maintained a positive attitude. In fact, during her extensive stay in the hospital, there was a small window where the family thought she might be coming home... rather than focus on her condition, she wanted to post inspirational words to inspire and encourage her friends and others. That speaks volumes of who she was--- unselfish and caring.
Mia's presence has graced Bank of America, Dunn & Bradstreet, Mary Kay, Avon, and most recently Keller Williams Realty. She secured her broker's license in 2020. Mia moved from Greensboro, North Carolina, to Alabama in 2016 to join her sister Nikkia in real estate. She found a church home at Westview Church of Christ where she shared her talents and gifts in true Mia fashion.
Mia leaves to cherish her memory and continue to celebrate a life well lived two loving children, Eric Vaughn Stringer and Sterling Hanna Alexis; brothers: Wayne Nixon, Winston Nixon, and Isacque (Shona) Nixon; two sisters: Nikkia (Troy) Dollar and Nicole Nixon; nieces: Cameron (Katrina) Nixon, Krystyl Malloy, Anitta Malloy, Nella Dollar, Naomi Dollar, Nyles Dollar, and Isley Nixon; beloved nephews: Clayvon (Eve) Nixon, Christopher (Kim) Nixon, Billy Williams, Sean Nixon, Asher Small, and Anderson Small; great- nephew: Sebastian Malloy; a host of grand nephews, godchildren, friends, colleagues, and admires.
