Marvin Gay Baker was born on March 1, 1965, to O. C. Baker, Jr., and the late Gracie Mae Baker.

Marvin passed this life on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Marvin was born in Limestone County and was educated in the Limestone County and Madison City school systems. Marvin was a graduate of Bob Jones High School where he played football, basketball, and baseball. This is also where he met his wife, Diarita, whom he loved watching perform with the Bob Jones Band as a drummer.

Marvin was very active in the athletic programs in Madison County, where he coached, referred, and umpired in all sports.

Marvin was a dedicated employee of the City of Madison for thirty-five years (35), along with owning and operating a successful lawn care service, Baker and Sons.

Marvin was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Gracie Mae Baker, sisters: Sarah, Earline, Toni, Mary Jean, and Darlene; brothers: Gary Baker and Thomas Malone.

Marvin confessed hope in Christ and joined the Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of Elder Annias Green.

Marvin’s precious memories will forever be cherished by a devoted and loving wife: Diarita Baker; daughter: Kakanjala (Mark) Williams; sons: Marvin (Brandi) Baker and Michael (Haley) Baker; father; O. C. Baker, Jr; mother- in – law: Lucille Miller; grandchildren: Dillion, Lillian, Leilani, and Madden; siblings: Rose Matthews, Linda (John) Farrar, Myrtle Baker, Elettie (Jerry) Farrar, Equinta Crutcher, Nikkie (Kourtney) Wesley, Ricky Williams, and Jerry Williams; devoted nephew: Demetress Haygood; uncle: Willie Lewis (Maxine) Baker; three aunts: Bessie Driskell, Nannie Ervin, and Cleo Ellison; three brothers- in-law: Thomas L. Miller, Lee Andrew (Mae) Miller, and Andrew Holt; four sisters-in-law: Lisa Holt, Denise (Forrest) Holt Ferguson, Rachel Townsend, and Pastor Juanita (Timothy) Battle; two godsons: Alex Miller and Nathaniel Martinez; bonus son: Kevin Hughes; devoted friends: Theo Robinson, John (Coach) Mullins, Jeff Miller, and Calvin Ledet; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends who will miss him very much.
