Deborah Miller was born on May 21, 1945, to John Wesley, Sr., and Viola Anderson, in Tchula, Mississippi. She departed this life at Huntsville Hospital on June 28, 2020.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Wesley, Sr.; mother, Viola A. Epps; step-father, William Epps, Sr.; grandchildren, Travis Anderson and Anna Grace; brothers, Samuel Byrd, Sr., and Don “Sweet” Epps; and brother-in-law, Eugene Thurmond.
As a young girl, she attended Saints Academy in Tchula, Mississippi, from which she received her diploma. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age. She later relocated to Chicago, Illinois, where she raised her five children and served on the #2 Usher board at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church until she relocated to Huntsville, Alabama in 1993. Nanny, as she is so affectionately known, loved to fish, play bingo, and browse yard sales.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory: sons, Alonzo Anderson (Pharis) and Kenneth Anderson (Ilyasha); daughters, Stephanie Anderson, Teresa Hazzard, and Monique Miller; brothers, William Epps, Jr. (Pearl), Johnny Patrick (Etoile), and Lorenzo Wesley (Blanche); sisters, Iola Anderson (Robert), Ivy Anderson (Willie), Katherine Thurmond, Darlene Bracey, Polly Young, and Phyllis Epps; grandchildren, Keith Morris, Sr., Dionte Anderson, Kiunna Anderson, Starshenna Anderson, Precious Hazzard, Kenneth Anderson, Jr., Dewan Yarbrough, Bianca Turner, Darius Anderson, Shaquille Morris, and Kendall Anderson; eighteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
