Obituary for Carol MacEachron

On November 13, 2020 Carol MacEachron passed away after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma.

Carol was born September 2, 1950 in Hammond, Indiana to Scott and Barbara MacEachron. She lived most of her life in the Chicago suburbs, later moving to Wisconsin, Florida, and finally Alabama She is survived by her brothers Scotty, Bruce, and Don MacEachron and sister Gail Jeffreys, her sons James (Isabel) and Jeffrey Eckrosh, beloved grandchildren Solomon and Moses Eckrosh and Nyah and Cameron Rutchik, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Carol had a laugh that was legendary - the kind that belonged on a canned laughter soundtrack. And she laughed often. Carol’s attitude was unflinchingly positive. She could be critical and snarky, but her worldview was one that despite whatever obstacles came her way, she would come out the other side still ready to take on the day with a smile.

Carol’s passions throughout her life filled her with great joy. Whether it was conquering rocky off-road terrain in her jeep, tackling a challenging sewing project, designing a creative paper craft, knitting bird nests for orphan birds, playing cards with friends, or gardening, she jumped in whole-heartedly. Having such a range of interests might seem overwhelming to some, but Carol managed to keep everything straight by keeping all of her supplies in a million neatly labeled bins.

To know Carol was to know love. She loved nature and animals, especially giraffes, frogs, and sloths. She loved the friends she made while pursuing her passions. She especially loved her grandchildren. She cherished being a grandma. Children were drawn to her, probably because of her willingness to be silly, read stories, and do crafts. She was extraordinarily encouraging to those around her, but was not afraid to tell it like it was if she didn’t approve of your choices.

Holidays were especially fun when Carol was around. She loved dressing up for Halloween and decorating for Christmas. She will be missed on those festive days, especially.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, no services will be held at this time. Carol requested that her remains be spread in a garden, and the family will honor that request. Donations in her memory may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Or remember Carol by finding beauty and joy in the world, whether it be a baby's giggle, a beautiful plant, an exciting adventure, or a handcrafted creation.
